Show your products on Google for free: a Merchant Center guide for Saudi stores

In short: Google shows stores’ products free on the Shopping tab, Google Search, Google Images, Google Lens and YouTube. Saudi Arabia is a supported country, the Saudi riyal is a supported currency and Arabic is a supported language. All you need: a Merchant Center account, approved products and well-written product data. Appearing isn’t guaranteed, but the quality of titles, images and attributes is what raises your chances, and it’s the same data you’ll need later for Shopping ads.

Many store owners don’t know their products can appear on Google with their images and prices without paying a riyal. This is called “free listings”, and the way in is Merchant Center.

Where can your products appear for free?

According to Merchant Center Help, approved products can appear free on Google surfaces such as:

  • The Shopping tab on Google.
  • Google Search itself.
  • Google Images and Google Lens.
  • YouTube.

Saudi Arabia is in the table of supported countries and regions on the same page. And the supported languages and currencies page lists the Saudi riyal (SAR) as its currency, notes that the Shopping tab is available to users in Saudi Arabia, and includes Arabic among the supported languages.

What do you need?

  1. A Merchant Center account in your store’s name, with your website verified.
  2. Your products uploaded, through a product feed, a ready connection from your store platform where there is one, or from the product data on your site’s pages.
  3. Selling in a supported country, with the products approved after review.
  4. Free listings turned on in Merchant Center settings if they aren’t already.

Google warns that appearing isn’t guaranteed even once products are approved; ranking depends on relevance and data quality.

How do you write product data that appears more?

Google’s recommendations on the same page are clear; here they are in practice:

  • A descriptive title: type + brand + key feature + size. “Cambodian oud perfume 100 ml by brand X” beats “luxury perfume”.
  • A description rich in the words people search with, without stuffing.
  • High-quality images on a clear background, with no text or watermarks over the product.
  • Complete attributes such as size, gender and colour, depending on the product.
  • A product type with at least three levels, such as: perfume › men’s perfume › oud.
  • Up-to-date data: price and availability always match the product page, or the product is disapproved.

And add product structured data to your store pages; it helps Google understand price and availability. Read structured data (Schema).

From free to paid

The same product data is the basis of Shopping ads and Performance Max campaigns. So the work you do today for free listings prepares you for ads later. Start free, watch which products get clicks, then back them with ads.

Mistakes that get products disapproved or hold them back

  • A price in the feed that differs from the page, or a sold-out product still marked “in stock”.
  • A product page that’s slow or doesn’t work on mobile.
  • No return policy or contact information in the store, which are trust signals.
  • Images with logos or promotional text over the product.

Frequently asked questions

Are free listings available in Saudi Arabia?

Yes. Saudi Arabia is among the supported countries on Google’s free listings page, and the Saudi riyal is a supported currency. Make sure your country of sale and currency are set in your account.

Do platforms like Salla and Zid connect to Merchant Center?

Many store platforms offer a connection, an app or a ready product feed. Check your platform’s app store, and after connecting make sure products are approved and prices update automatically. To compare platforms: Salla, Zid or WooCommerce.

How long until products appear?

After uploading, products need Google’s review, which can take days. Actual appearance depends on competition and data quality, so watch the performance report in Merchant Center.
